About Our Cattery
Auroara Rose is a registered CFA cattery. We have been breeding and showing Persians since January 2001. Our goal is to raise healthy, genetically sound Persians that are well adjusted and have super sweet temperaments. We use only PKD negative cats, based on DNA testing, in our breeding program. We also strive to conform to the CFA standard for the Persian breed.
Although we understand that some breeders prefer to use cages; we have chosen to maintain a cageless cattery and do no place our cats or kittens in an environment where they might be caged.
We enjoy showing our Persians at CFA shows and are fortunate to have met some wonderful, caring breeders that were willing to help us establish our cattery. We want to thank Barb McKinnon, Barbara Bosco, Lyn Bayliss and Karen Malesh for entrusting us with wonderful cats from great lines and pedigrees as a foundation to our breeding program.
Showing, as well as breeding, has brought some very special people into our lives that have become lifetime friends. These special people have helped me learn the various aspects of breeding and showing Persians. They have often offered words of encouragement when needed, and been there to share both the joys and sorrows of this hobby.
Special thank you to Karen Malesh for being my mentor from the start, and for being one of my dearest friends. Not many “newbies” could have even dreamed of earning a Regional win and Granding a Golden Persian in their first year of showing. We were fortunate to be working with some beautiful cats; but, without Karen’s guidance this achievement would not have been possible.
As a small cattery, we have only a few kittens per year. We spend lots of time with our kittens. They are one of the most enjoyable parts of our life. Our goal, therefore, is to ensure that they go to “forever” homes where they will receive the love and care they deserve.
